After 2 weeks on the road, we're wrapping up the tour on the French Riviera in Nice. It's a tourist city with the first visitors making an appearance 400,000 years ago when cave dwellers made temporary homes above what is now the Nice Port as they came once a year to hunt woolly mammoths.  Elton John now has a home on that same hill.  The ocean views are beautiful with incredibly blue water.  It's a place just to hang out, relax and to wander; which we did as we stayed over with a few other tour members for a few days after the tour.

Probably of interest to nobody but me...I'm a big sports fan, as was one other guy on the tour.  Our first night in Nice was also the evening of the Champion's League Soccer Final.  We set off in search of a sports bar, however we soon discovered that if we were expecting a North American style sports bar with multiple TV's...we'd better go to North America.  Best we found was an outdoor patio where the bar rolled out 1 mid-size TV for a crowd of about 100 to sit around and watch.  We ended back at our hotel bar with 1 small TV but no crowd.

Wow!  The Tour...This was our first bus tour of any kind and so we have nothing to compare it to.  If there was one thing that stood out for us it was the quality of our guide Virginie and how she educated us during the 2-4 hours of bus travel each day.  I'm not good at sitting still and was very concerned about the time on the bus, however our daily lessons on language and culture added a new and unexpected dimension to the tour that we wouldn't have got by doing a trip alone.  Will we do another RS tour?  Absolutely.
